During festive season, going back to one’s home country is the first thing you can think of if you are based abroad. My partner and I decided to spend it with my family in Philippines. This would be his first time to visit the country and meet my family and kids too.
Oh how exciting and at the same time, stressful! Plans, travel plans, room bookings here and there! It’s festive season and expect the hotels and resorts are fully booked!
From Perth, Western Australia, Kevin arrived Philippines on 24th December 2009 and without any rest, we need to be with the family dinner, kids around, noise, fun, booze, etc. The next day we head out to a small recreation area here in Victorias City, near the Coliseum for some barbie and beer! At the same time, Malcolm, my brother’s partner arrived at noon time from all the way from Sydney, Australia and straight away joined us until late afternoon.
The next day, 26th December 2009, we (Kevin and I plus the 2 kids) have to head to Boracay. We planned to travel by land. Hah!! I never expected that a 6-hr land/water travel from Victorias until Caticlan would be so much tiring and stressful especially the kids are with us. My poor little Anya was sick throughout the travel but of course, when you see the paradise island of Boracay, you’ll forget everything! It felt to refreshing, relaxing and you just want to grab a bottle of beer and lie on the powder white sand of island!
